My Story...

I started working out when I was 15 years old, my brother showed me how to weight train, once I started I never looked back!  I loved to run and play sports, which was something that my mom made each of us do (I still thank her for this to this day).  I found a love for tennis and was pretty good at it.  Working out with weights helped to make me stronger and better at the game.  This is something that has carried through to who I am and why I do what I do.
I became a personal trainer after I lost 50 pounds on my own.  I guess I should explain why I had the 50 to lose in the first place.  I had just gotten married to the love of my life and we returned home from our honeymoon to some life shattering news, my best friend took her own life.  I went into a deep sadness and state of disbelief.  We had been friends since high school (in fact we used to workout together) and she was in my wedding just weeks before this happened.  I stopped taking care of myself until one day I looked in the mirror and realized how unhappy I was with who I had become.  My husband, bless his heart, signed us up for the gym and was my biggest supporter.  I knew how to workout, but I also needed to clean up my eating.  I had stopped cooking and started eating out, sad to say a lot of fast food was consumed.  I was reading Oxygen magazine and came across "The Eat-Clean Diet", needless to say Tosca Reno taught me how to eat the right foods to fuel my workout and to see the results from all the hard work I was putting in at the gym.  It was a hard road, but I stayed committed to my goal and lost the 50 pounds, and in the meantime I gained a love for fitness and eating clean.  I also found out how therapeutic exercise was and it helped me to deal with the grief that I felt, to this day when I am feeling down all I need is a good workout and my mood is lifted!  I was so in love with how I felt that I wanted to help others feel this way too!  I did some research and became and NASM Certified Personal Trainer.  I got a job at Life Time Fitness, where my education continued.  I became a TEAM instructor, and a nutrition coach as well.  I loved my experience there, however when I had my daughter I decided that I wanted to be a stay at home mom.
Now I am a mom of an amazing little girl and I am still a personal trainer, I just work for myself now.  On Fire Fitness is my other "baby".  I have developed an online personal training program that allows clients to have the guidance of working with a trainer and the flexibility to workout on their own schedule.  I also do some one on one training, and outdoor boot camps when the weather is nice.  I can truly say that I love being a mom and a personal trainer.  I hope to share my love of fitness and living healthy with you and set a good example for my daughter!
